January Book: Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer
From Goodreads.com
Jonathan Safran Foer emerged as one of the most original writers of his generation with his best-selling debut novel, Everything Is Illuminated. Now, with humor, tenderness, and awe, he confronts the traumas of our recent history.
Nine-year-old Oskar Schell has embarked on an urgent, secret mission that will take him through the five boroughs of New York. His goal is to find the lock that matches a mysterious key that belonged to his father, who died in the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11. This seemingly impossible task will bring Oskar into contact with survivors of all sorts on an exhilarating, affecting, often hilarious, and ultimately healing journey.
There are currently 25 holdable copies available at your local CCC Library.
PS- By the way, in case you missed it, the December book was The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown

I am about 40 pages from the end of this book and, depending on the ending, it is in the running for best book club book so far, in my opinion. Great way to kick off 2010, Adam!

ReplyDeleteFinished! Can't wait to talk about it...but I feel like I need to read it all over again.
ReplyDeleteDitto again. I think this is the first book in a while that I actually want to read again right after I finish it.
